Total War

This is in response to the weekly challenge "Total" at Illustration Friday. I referenced the Merriam-Webster dictionary and when I read the third definition, I knew what I wanted to do. I can't take credit for the images, only the collage and I hope who ever took them, that they are safe. This goes out to all those suffering from this war, directly or indirectly.

Main Entry: 1 to-tal
Function: adjective
Etymology: Middle English, from Anglo-French, from Medieval Latin totalis, from Latin totus whole, entire
Date: 14th century

1 : comprising or constituting a whole : entire
2 : absolute, utter
3 : involving a complete and unified effort especially to achieve a desired effect <total war>

Excellent collage and a healthy dose of some harsh reality.

sad to see the smiles on their faces and even sadder, no one has done anything .. he's serving his second term .. and both are still free.

Great piece! Those two are total! blankety blanks- especially Cheney-- and Ms. Rice is a lot to blame too. It's so sad and unbearably frustrating how they totally killed the perfect opportunity to unite the world after 911- when even some of our critics were looking like allies. Instead, with great arrogance and disregard for the UN- they proceeded to wage a war for control of oil. So they created such immense suffering, irreparably(?) turned the world against us and made our country, and the world a much less safe place. Totally pray for peace.

I am honored to have all of you take time to speak about this topic. I hoped the collage would generate some discussion around the absurdity and audacity of these evil men, and their cronies. They have led the most corrupt administration in our government's history. I'm disgusted and embarassed to be an American. Although, this collage is seen by many as beautiful, it represents something very ugly.

Peace to all.

WOW... How on earth did I miss this? I love how you have B&C smiling while all of this horror is going on. That makes a very powerful statement.

I can't say whether or not I'm embarrassed TO BE an American, but I certainly am embarrassed and disgusted WITH this country. With everything that has happened, I can't believe we haven't blown ourselves up yet. But, I suppose we are survivors, after all. There is hope that we can not only survive war, but survive our own stupidity.
;)

Shrig- glad you spotted this post. Yes, we are entangled in stupidity, and greed, I might add. I just feel embarrassed by what others think and the stereotyping of what America represents, even if lots of us disagree with the war. Thank you, for your genuine comment.

Very moving and timely. Your collage is perfectly balanced from the chaos in the foreground, to the peaceful background from which the wheels of war emanate. Beautiful work!
